The History of Nerdy Books
Nerdy Books have been around since 2000, but the idea has been around for a lot longer. Co-founders and authors, Wendy Richardson and Bob Flisser, learned early on in their work as software trainers that most programs had hundreds of tips and tricks that few people knew existed.
It wasn't too much of a leap for Wendy and Bob to think of writing a tip book but careers, spouses, kids, cats and little things like financing always got in the way. After 6 years of collecting tips, making prototypes and beta testing with friends and family, Nerdy Books finally saw the light of day.
In 2001, we printed the first "Just the tips, man" book for Microsoft Word. The book got rave reviews and we were off and running. That year, we added books for Excel, PowerPoint and Windows Me. In 2002, we created eBook versions of those first titles. By the end of 2003, we had added 3 additional eBook titles and have been adding more titles since then.
The movie version of our story will be released soon, with Amanda Tapping playing Wendy and Richard Dean Anderson playing Bob.
