Sarah McLachlan video

Sarah McLachlan, one of my favorite artists, has a heartbreaking video at www.worldonfire.ca. The lyrics are below. I love the line "The more we take the less we become".
World on Fire Lyrics

Hearts are worn
In these dark ages
You're not alone,
In these stories' pages
The light has fallen
Amongst the living and the dying
And I'll try to hold it in
Yeah I'll try to hold it in

The world is on fire
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water
Try and bring my share
Try to bring more, more than I can handle
Bring it to the table
Bring what I am able ...

I watch the heavens
But I find no calling
Something I can do to change what's coming
Stay close to me
While the sky is falling
I don't wanna be left alone,
Don't want to be alone...

The world is on fire
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water
Try and bring my share
Try to bring more, more than I can handle
Bring it to the table
Bring what I am able ...

Hearts break ... hearts mend ... love still hurts
visions clash ... planes crash
Still there's talk of saving souls
Still the cold is closing in on us

We part the veil on our killer sun
Stray from the straight line
On this short run ...
The more we take the less we become
The fortune of one man means less for some

The world is on fire
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water
Try and bring my share
Try to bring more, more than I can handle
Bring it to the table
Bring what I am able ...

The world is on fire
It's more than I can handle
I'll tap into the water
Try and bring my share
Try to bring more, more than I can handle
Bring it to the table
Bring what I am able ...

Wendy,
Thank you for bringing things beyond our daily view of the world to your readers' attention. For those who have not viewed the video at the worldonfire.ca site, Sarah McLachlan essentially took the $150,000 production cost for the video and re-routed all but the $15 actually spent in making the video to various aid organizations. The assistance went to address many diverse needs ranging from food and medicine to classrooms, education programs, and training.

I was pleased to see some aid going to programs with goals such as "to encourage families to be able to stay together" and "develop income generating activities" and scholarship programs -- more than just dropping "handouts" for a quick fix.

I, for one, will continue to look for ways to better those around me and strengthen others' self-image and inner strength. Thank you, Wendy, for the consistent inspiration. Please keep up the good work!

Great Posting, here it is going on april 2007 and that was the first time I seen the video.

Most important to the environmentalist must be the neglected humans of our little earth. Unfortunately the few are taking more, and more are drowning . To fix global warming, environmental degradation, etc, we have to take care of those we have left behind with our technology forcefully with our guns. It would be nice to see such consideration taken from public figures in the U.S (considering our take in the earth cake). Thanks again for the posting.
